In the deep, frozen wastelands north of Nifliem stood a vast bone yard. Within this ancient ground stood countless bones of the mighty highlanders; large men wielding massive swords the size of their height. It was custom for these warriors to battle to please their gods, competing in the sacred ground and vanquish each other for the sake of pleasure and war. To the highlanders, death is a merciful gift that releases them for the tortures of life. But for the Avido, this burial cradles recruits. The shepherds of rot have call upon them from the grave. With the powers of necromancy, the clerics are able to summon forth the shambling skeletons of these once living, fierce warriors as loyal servants.

Clad in rusted armor and armed with massive weapons, these skeleton warriors relentlessly follow their masters with no hint of disloyalty or life. Their lifeless posture and shuffling are deceiving even to the most strongest, living warriors; for they have the strength to cleave a body with ease. They are still slow though, still retaining a sickness of low wit and sympathetic agility as a rotting zombie. However, their low speed makes up for their invincibility. As the Skeleton warrior shatters, they will reassemble themselves, mocking and eventually tiring anyone that hopelessly opposes them. Only the destruction of the axial skeletal, or the death of its summoner, will truly kill these constructs, permanently.

Oddly, there is a typical behavior that these skeletons wander back to the bone yard (even if it means traveling through the vast ocean!). When they reach their destination, they fight amongst themselves, fall to the ground, and rise again. All for the sake of battle. Necromancers never expect nor command these skeletons to conduct what they call “an encore performance.” Many believe that these fallen warriors are reenacting past wars from their memories. However, no one, even a necromancer, would dare cause a commotion while the battle is continuing....

... Avido regrettable admits losing Necromancers when the skeleton warriors are disturbed by any preciseness during combat.

Music: Vagrant Story- Catacombs

Been working on undead creatures recently for concept art. This piece was an experiment on the character and behavior on undead creatures. At first, I scribble a sketch of a standing skeleton, however; Like my previous Zombie concept, the thought of using a static pose may be too overated. While it may look good on zombie creatures; it may look a bit dull.

So, I made this Skeleton Warrior appear "Shuffling" or near to the point of shattering. The purpose was to process a disturbing and odd pose that shows how the life and humanity no longer exist within these unfortunate warriors.
